MOE Kindergarten @ Damai

What it is

MOE Kindergarten @ Damai is one of the government's own kindergartens, run by MOE and housed inside Damai Primary School in Tampines North. Like every MK it offers K1 and K2 for children aged 5 and 6, teaching through play on MOE's Nurturing Early Learners curriculum, with fees of S$160 a month for Singapore Citizens and S$320 for PRs. The Primary 1 angle

This is the part most P1-minded parents care about. A child who attends this MK qualifies for Phase 2A at Damai Primary School when they register for Primary 1, the same early phase as alumni children, and well ahead of the open Phase 2C where most balloting happens.

It is a strong card, but be clear-eyed: Phase 2A is priority, not a guarantee. At heavily oversubscribed schools even 2A can go to a ballot, decided by citizenship and home-to-school distance. Getting a K1 place here

Places are offered through the annual MOE Kindergarten registration exercise (held around February to March for entry the following January). If this MK is oversubscribed it ballots by home distance, so living nearby helps. The one way to guarantee a place is the partner Early Years Centre route, where enrolling early secures K1 entry.
