Kindergarten Care (KCare), explained
The core MOE Kindergarten session is only four hours a day, which does not stretch to a full working day. KCare is the before and after school care that fills the gap, to 7pm, right through the school holidays. Here are the hours, the fees, the subsidies and how to apply.

KCare at a glance
What it is
Before and after school care run at every MOE Kindergarten, wrapping around the 4-hour core session so your child has a longer day in the same place.
Hours
Monday to Friday until 7pm, including during the school holidays when the core MK sessions stop.
Fee (2026)
Capped at S$425/month, payable in June and December too.
Basic Subsidy
Every Singapore Citizen child in KCare gets S$150/month, so a citizen typically pays around S$275 before further help.
Additional Subsidy
Income-tiered, on top of the Basic Subsidy. SC households earning S$6,000/month or less qualify (since late 2024, working mother or not); the amount depends on your income.
Meals
Children in KCare get meals through the extended day, alongside activities and free play.
What KCare is
Kindergarten Care (KCare) is the before and after school care service run at every MOE Kindergarten for children enrolled there. It wraps around the 4-hour core session so your child stays in the same place for a longer day, with meals, activities and free play.
Hours
KCare runs Monday to Friday until 7pm, including during the school holidays when the core MK sessions stop. It closes on public holidays, Teachers' Day and Children's Day, plus a few designated days each year.
What each family pays
For 2026 the KCare fee is capped at S$425 a month (payable in June and December too). What you actually pay depends on your child's status, because MOE Kindergarten places, and therefore KCare, are for Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident children only.
| KCare fee (2026 cap) | S$425 |
| Less Basic Subsidy (every SC child) | – S$150 |
| You pay before further help | S$275 |
| Less Additional Subsidy (income-tiered, if eligible) | less again |
The Additional Subsidy is tiered by household income and worked out case by case, so MOE publishes a calculator rather than a fixed by-income table. Apply and get your exact figure at go.gov.sg/kcare-application.
The KCare Additional Subsidy: who qualifies
On top of the S$150 Basic Subsidy, MOE gives an income-tiered Additional Subsidy, administered by MOE and granted when your application is approved. To qualify:
- The child is a Singapore Citizen and an existing ECDA KiFAS beneficiary.
- The applicant is the mother, or a single father, who works 56 hours or more a month.
- Gross monthly household income is S$12,000 or below (or a per-capita income of S$3,000 or below for larger families).
Non-working parents can still be considered case by case with special approval, for example if you are seeking employment, on training of at least 56 hours a month, medically unfit for work, caring full-time for a family member or a child aged 24 months and below, or receiving MSF ComCare or under the HDB Public Rental Scheme. Legal guardians and other non-parent carers can apply with the relevant supporting documents.
Who can use it, and how to apply
Your child must be enrolled in that MK to use its KCare. Indicate your KCare preference when you register for the MK; if your child is already enrolled, speak to the centre head. The Additional Subsidy is applied for separately through an MOE form.

Common questions
What about working parents, is 4 hours of MK enough? +
Every MK offers Kindergarten Care (KCare) on top of the core session: care until 7pm on weekdays, including during school holidays, with meals and activities. In 2026 KCare costs up to S$425/month before subsidies, and every Singapore Citizen child gets a S$150/month basic subsidy, with more for lower-income families.
Does KCare run during the school holidays? +
Yes. Unlike the core MK sessions, which follow the school term calendar and stop during holidays, KCare continues through the holidays (weekdays to 7pm) for children enrolled in it. KCare fees remain payable in June and December. It closes on public holidays, Teachers' Day and Children's Day, plus a few designated days each year.
How much does a Singapore Citizen family actually pay? +
For 2026 the KCare fee is capped at S$425 a month. Every Singapore Citizen child gets a Basic Subsidy of S$150 a month, so a citizen typically pays around S$275 before any further help. An income-tiered Additional Subsidy can reduce that further for households earning S$6,000 a month or less. PR children can use KCare but do not get the Basic or Additional Subsidy, so a PR family pays the full fee; confirm the exact PR fee with your MK. Foreign children are not eligible for MOE Kindergarten or KCare.
How do I sign up for KCare? +
Your child must be enrolled in that MK to use its KCare. Indicate your KCare preference when you register for the MK; if your child is already enrolled, speak to the centre head. The Additional Subsidy is applied for separately through an MOE form.
