Phase 2B: Church member
A parent who is a member of the church connected with the school can register in Phase 2B. The requirement differs by denomination — some ask only for a baptism certificate, others for active, endorsed membership over a period. Always confirm the exact requirement with the school and the church.

Who qualifies through this route
- A parent is a member of the church or religious body connected with the school, to the standard that denomination sets.
- Some churches (notably the Catholic schools) ask only that a parent is a baptised member, evidenced by a baptism certificate.
- Others (notably Anglican and Presbyterian schools) ask for active, endorsed membership over the past year — regular worship, service and an endorsement form from the parish.

Common questions
Do I have to be baptised to use the church route for Phase 2B? +
For the Catholic schools, yes — at least one parent must be a baptised Catholic, shown by a baptism certificate. Methodist, Anglican and Presbyterian schools ask for membership of their church, which for Anglican and Presbyterian usually means active, endorsed membership over the past year. Confirm the exact requirement with the school.
Does church membership guarantee a place? +
No. It makes your child eligible for Phase 2B at that school. If Phase 2B is oversubscribed, places go by citizenship then home-school distance, with a ballot if a band is still oversubscribed.
