How the distance is worked out

MOE gives priority by how far your registered home address is from the school, in three bands: within 1km, between 1km and 2km, and beyond 2km. The distance is measured in a straight line, not by road or travel time.

This page measures the same way, from the postal code you type to each school's address, so the bands here line up with MOE's. It is our measurement, not MOE's. The figure that decides a place is the one MOE calculates from the address on your child's registration, so treat anything close to a band edge as a question for MOE rather than a settled answer. If you are near the line, check with MOE before you register.

One school is measured from an address other than its current campus, because MOE has said the new address governs distance for this exercise. Its card says so.
