How MK@Shuqun changes the comparison

Shuqun hosts an MOE Kindergarten; Lakeside does not. A child who attends MK@Shuqun gains Phase 2A eligibility at Shuqun, an earlier registration opportunity than the open Phase 2C. That is priority, not a guaranteed place: if Shuqun's Phase 2A is oversubscribed it still ballots by citizenship and distance. More Phase 2A take-up can also leave fewer places for later phases. Lakeside has no MK link, so most families reach it at Phase 2C, where distance priority does the deciding.

Common questions

Does MK@Shuqun guarantee a place in Shuqun Primary? +

No. An MOE Kindergarten link gives Phase 2A eligibility at the host primary, which is priority to register earlier. If Phase 2A is oversubscribed it still ballots by citizenship and home-school distance. See our Phase 2A guide.

Should I skip Phase 2A and wait for Lakeside Phase 2C? +

It depends on your distance priority at each school and current demand. This tool compares your actual priority group at each school's earliest eligible phase, rather than assuming the earlier phase is always better.

Does living within 1km guarantee a place? +

No. Distance sets your priority order (SC within 1km is first), but if there are more within-1km applicants than places, even that group can go to a ballot.

Can I register at both schools in the same phase? +

No. You register at one school per phase. This tool helps you decide which single school gives the stronger position for your situation.

Are interim applicant numbers final? +

No. During an open phase, applicant numbers can still change before it closes. The tool labels interim figures clearly and leans on final ballot results when available.

Is Lakeside a worse school because it is easier to enter? +

No. This page compares registration position and convenience, not teaching quality or outcomes. An easier-to-enter school is not a worse school.
