The four school terms
The primary school year runs across four terms, grouped into two semesters. These dates are shared by MOE Kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.

Term 1 began on Friday, 2 January 2026 for Primary 1 and K1 (Primary 2 to 6 and K2 started Monday, 5 January). The year runs across four terms in two semesters, ending when Term 4 closes on Friday, 20 November 2026.
When are the June school holidays in 2026? +
The mid-year (June) holidays run from Saturday, 30 May to Sunday, 28 June 2026, about four weeks. It is the longest break apart from the year-end holidays.
When do the year-end school holidays start in 2026? +
The year-end holidays begin on Saturday, 21 November 2026 and run to 31 December, about six weeks. For a child entering Primary 1 in 2027, this is the break right before they start.
When is Chinese New Year in 2026? +
Chinese New Year falls on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 February 2026, both public holidays. As both fall on weekdays there is no separate day in lieu.
How many school terms are there in a year? +
There are four terms, grouped into two semesters. Each term is roughly ten weeks, with a one-week break after Terms 1 and 3, a four-week break in June, and a six-week break at year-end.
