September School Holidays 2026: The One-Week Term 3 Break
The September break is the short pause between Term 3 and Term 4: Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 September 2026, with school resuming on Monday 14 September. One week, late in the year, and best used as a rest rather than a project.

What the September break is
Every Singapore primary school year runs across four terms, and the September holidays are the breather between the third and the fourth. In 2026, Term 3 ends on Friday, 4 September and the break runs from Saturday, 5 September to Sunday, 13 September. Term 4, the final term of the year, starts on Monday, 14 September.
It is the same shape as the March break: one week, shared by MOE Kindergartens, primary and secondary schools on the single MOE calendar. In 2027 it runs from Saturday, 4 September to Sunday, 12 September, with Term 4 starting on Monday, 13 September. The full date list for every year is on the school holidays hub.
How to use a one-week break
A week goes quickly, so pick two or three things rather than filling every day. The aim is a reset before the final term, not a second school term.

One sporty stint
A short sports camp or a swim intensive fits neatly into a single week. Sport Singapore's ActiveSG runs school-holiday sport programmes at public facilities across the island.
Quiet
The library
The National Library Board runs school-holiday programmes at the public libraries, and an hour of picking out books together is an easy anchor for an otherwise empty day.
Out and about
One museum or nature day
A museum is an easy half-day, and a park connector, reservoir or nature walk costs nothing. One proper outing is usually enough for a short break; leave the rest of the week unhurried.

A calm reset before the last lap
By September your child has three terms of Primary 1 behind them and the year is nearly done. If the school year has been tiring, this is the week to slow down, protect sleep and downtime, and let them arrive at Term 4 rested rather than wrung out.
Common questions
Is there homework over the September break? +
There is no MOE-wide rule either way, so it depends on the school and the teacher. Many lower-primary classes get little or none for a one-week break; some schools set light revision or a reading list, especially for older pupils with year-end checkpoints ahead. Check your child's school communication before the break starts rather than assuming either way.
Is student care open during the September holidays? +
School-based student care centres generally continue to operate through the school holidays, often with a holiday programme in place of the usual after-school routine, but hours and arrangements vary by centre. Confirm the schedule, and whether any extra sign-up is needed, directly with your centre before the break. Our student care guide covers how these centres work.
Is September a good time to travel? +
A week is enough for a short regional trip, and because the break is fixed on the MOE calendar it is a popular one, so flights and hotels for that window tend to book up early. If you are planning to go away, booking ahead matters more than it would for a longer break. Many families simply stay put and treat the week as a rest.
Is Children's Day part of the September break? +
No. Children's Day in 2026 is Friday, 2 October, a school holiday for primary schools that falls inside Term 4, a few weeks after the September break ends. It gives children a long weekend in October rather than extending the September holiday.
