Phase 2A for School Staff: When a Parent Works at the School
Your child may register in Phase 2A if either parent is a staff member of the primary school you are applying to. The school verifies the parent's staff status against its records.
Last reviewed against official sources: 16 July 2026
Independent parent-run guide: not affiliated with MOE or any school. Your child’s eligible phases and schools are confirmed only by the school and the P1 Registration Portal.
- Phase 2A registration
- 9 to 10 July 2026 (9am to 4:30pm)
- Results released
- 17 July 2026
Dates are MOE’s 2026 exercise; always confirm on MOE’s registration phases & key dates. For live vacancies and balloting, see the P1 2026 page.
This page is for a parent who works at the school. If instead a parent or sibling is a former student, a parent sits on the School Advisory/Management Committee, or the child is in the school’s MOE Kindergarten, those are the other Phase 2A routes.
Quick check: is this your page?
1. Is either parent currently a staff member of the primary school?
General guidance only. The school and the P1 Registration Portal make the final eligibility decision.
Which school can you apply to?
The staff connection applies only to the primary school that employs the parent. It does not give Phase 2A eligibility at another primary school.
- Parent works at School A → the staff route applies to School A.
- Parent works at School A but wants School B → the School A employment does not create staff eligibility at School B.
- Both parents work at different primary schools → check the portal and confirm the eligible schools before choosing one.
You may register your child for only one school in a phase. If more than one submission is made during a phase, MOE uses the latest one.
Does my type of work count?
These are questions to verify with the school, not official MOE rulings. Only the school and the portal confirm your eligibility.
What to confirm with the school
Before registration, ask the general office or HR:
- Is my employment recorded for the current P1 Registration Exercise?
- Will my child’s Phase 2A eligibility appear automatically in the portal?
- Is any staff declaration or internal form required?
- Which parent’s details should be used?
- Who should I contact if the eligible school does not appear?
The staff connection does not guarantee a place
It lets you apply in Phase 2A. If applicants exceed places, MOE holds a ballot with priority in this order:
- 1. Singapore Citizen within 1km
- 2. Singapore Citizen 1km to 2km
- 3. Singapore Citizen beyond 2km
- 4. Permanent Resident within 1km
- 5. Permanent Resident 1km to 2km
- 6. Permanent Resident beyond 2km

How to register in Phase 2A

- Select one school only.
- Complete any staff declaration or upload documents if requested.

After the result
If successful: the place is secured. Follow the school’s instructions and watch Parents Gateway.
If unsuccessful: register in the next phase for which your child is eligible, and reassess nearby schools and remaining vacancies. An unsuccessful Phase 2A application does not carry forward automatically.
Common questions
Which school does the staff route apply to? +
Only the primary school that employs the parent. Working at School A does not create Phase 2A staff eligibility at School B.
Both parents are staff at different primary schools. Which do we use? +
Each staff connection applies only to that parent's own school. Check the P1 Registration Portal for the eligible schools shown, and remember you may register for only one school in a phase.
I just joined the school. Is my staff status recognised yet? +
It depends on whether the school has updated its records for this exercise. Contact the general office or HR before registration to confirm, rather than assuming.
I am relief, adjunct or contract staff. Do I qualify? +
This varies by appointment and exercise. Ask the school to confirm whether your appointment is recognised for Phase 2A this year.
I work for a vendor at the school. Does that count as staff? +
Working on the school premises through another employer does not make you school staff. Confirm your exact status with the school before relying on it.
Does the staff connection guarantee a place? +
No. Phase 2A can still ballot. When applicants exceed places, priority follows citizenship first, then home-school distance.
The school does not appear under Phase 2A in my portal. What do I do? +
Try the other parent's Singpass login, check that your details match the school's records, and contact the general office or HR. Use the portal's online form if instructed.
Which parent should register? +
Only one parent needs to register, but the registering parent must declare that the other parent's consent has been obtained. Check with the school which parent's staff details should be used if unsure.
