School connections

How this school links to the wider system, secondary and preschool, each of which can shape the P1 and later journey.

Affiliated secondary school None

Pei Chun Public School has no MOE-affiliated secondary school, so a P1 place here gives no affiliation priority into any particular secondary. Secondary posting follows the normal PSLE and Secondary 1 Posting Exercise. A shared name with a nearby secondary does not by itself mean an affiliation.

Always confirm the latest with the school before relying on it.

What Pei Chun Public is known for

Founded in 1933 by the Hainanese community, Pei Chun is the only school in Singapore with "Public" in its name, marking its origins as a school started by the community for the community. It was accorded Special Assistance Plan (SAP) status in 1990 for its rich Chinese language and culture.

Its Applied Learning Programme (ALP) is in Languages, alongside a Bilingual Media Studies programme, and its Learning for Life Programme (LLP), the Pei Chun Leaders Programme, is in community service and student leadership.

It is not a Gifted Education Programme centre. As a SAP school it offers a strong bilingual, bicultural environment, with school values of courtesy, justice, honesty and honour.

Is it a fit for your family? What to weigh

Especially if you have no older child here to go on, these are the things worth checking before you put the school down.
Daily travel and distance
At 16 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh, S319320, in Toa Payoh. Living within 1km both shortens the daily commute and, if a phase goes to a ballot, puts you in the top priority tier, so check your home-to-school distance on MOE's locator before you commit.
A head start into secondary school
None. Pei Chun has no affiliated secondary school, so a place here gives no advantage in the later Secondary 1 posting.
Teaching identity
Government-aided SAP, co-educational, community-founded in 1933, with a strong bilingual, bicultural Chinese-culture emphasis and a languages applied-learning programme.
High-ability learners
Not a GEP centre. High-ability children are identified through MOE's separate national screening, which is open to pupils at any school.
