Relocating to Tengah in 2028, Primary 1 intake resumes at the 2027 exercise
MOE announced that Kranji Primary School will relocate from Choa Chu Kang to Tengah in 2028. Ahead of the move, there is no Primary 1 registration at Kranji for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 exercises. Its first returning batch of Primary 1 pupils is admitted through the 2027 P1 Registration Exercise (tentatively entering in 2028).
This pause applies to new Primary 1 intake only. Existing pupils are not displaced: they continue at the Choa Chu Kang campus until they graduate, by end 2029.
This is Kranji Primary School's actual Primary 1 balloting record up to 2023, its last intake before the pause. There is no new Primary 1 intake for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 exercises ahead of the 2028 relocation to Tengah; intake resumes at the 2027 exercise. In its final years Kranji was consistently undersubscribed, taking every applicant without a ballot.

- 1 — sibling currently studying in the school
- 2A — parent/sibling is a former pupil; parent is staff or on the school committee; or a child from the school’s MOE Kindergarten (MK)
- 2A(2) — the former Phase 2A2 (before 2022), now merged into 2A
- 2B — parent volunteer, church/clan, or community leader
- 2C — open to all, no prior connection
- 2C(S) — supplementary round after Phase 2C
- 3 — international students (not SC or PR)
- 1. SC<1 — Singapore Citizen within 1km
- 2. SC 1-2 — within 1 to 2km
- 3. SC>2 — beyond 2km
- 4. PR<1 — Permanent Resident within 1km
- 5. PR 1-2 — within 1 to 2km
- 6. PR>2 — beyond 2km
A grey note like all SC placed or all SC<1 placed means the phase was oversubscribed but no ballot was conducted: MOE offered the places by citizenship and distance priority, and everyone in the group shown was admitted (per MOE’s official balloting data). The % is not red in these cases because there was no ballot.
Each cell: the big number is places taken; below it, applicants / vacancies, then the demand % (applicants as a share of vacancies, so above 100% means more families wanted that phase than there were places). A red cell went to a ballot, with the group and its ratio, e.g. SC 1-2 (6/5). In the Total column, “of NNN” is that year’s total P1 places, the +/- below is the change from the year before, and the last line is places taken as a % of the total.
Figures from sgschooling, the same compiled source used for every school here, whose recent years match MOE's official vacancies and balloting data. For a school you can register at this year, see the live 2026 figures.
The key dates
What this means if you are considering Kranji
- You cannot register a child for Primary 1 at Kranji in the 2024, 2025 or 2026 exercises. The route reopens at the 2027 P1 Registration Exercise, for entry into the relocated Tengah school.
- If your child is a current Kranji pupil, they continue at the Choa Chu Kang campus until graduation, by end 2029, and are not required to move mid-way.
- Families in Tengah planning for the 2027 exercise onwards may find Kranji among their options, but confirm the position with MOE closer to the time rather than assuming a fixed date.
- For a school you can register at now, use the schools-by-area guide or the live 2026 Phase 2B and 2C figures.
Independent parent-run guide. MOE administers Primary 1 registration and the school relocation programme, and the P1 Registration Portal is the final word on the phases and schools available to your child. Confirm the current position on MOE’s own pages before you rely on it.
